Referrals

Undertake a full assessment of the child/young person prior to admission to Waves Care LTD

Referring agencies, usually Local Authorities, generally make contact by email to zara@wavescare.co.uk or wanda@wavescare.co.uk or shamim@wavescare.co.uk who will then undertake a full assessment of the child/young person prior to admission to Waves Care LTD to ensure that our care package is the right fit for the young person and we can achieve the outcomes laid out for the individual. In saying this we also cater for emergency placements and will do our upmost to ensure the transition to the home is a smooth as it can be.

The Right Fit

Working in this sector we receive many referrals on a daily basis the number of emailed referrals which can often be as many as 30. We are unable to respond to all of them but will try our upmost.

Responding To Referrals

Once the placement has been agreed the Registered Manager and staff team will begin making preparations for the admission and prepare a Placement Impact Assessment report to consider the effects of the new admission on the home and the other residents.

The admission date and time will be agreed with a transitional plan in place to support this if it is not an emergency placement. The Registered Manager will require relevant documents from the placing agency prior to admission (e.g. Care Plan; Risk Assessment; recent LAC reports). This will then in turn assist in the development of relevant placement and management plans. The finishing touches will be put into place to ensure the young person is given the smooth transition that they require as we know how daunting this will be.

When the placement has been agreed, the team will arrange a welcome party with their own individualised welcome box ready for them in their bedroom. On the day of admission the child/young person is generally accompanied by their Social Worker and/or carers/parents. We make young people and visitors feel welcome. They will be shown around the home, introduced to staff and other children/young people, and assisted in unpacking their personal belongings. All children/young people have their own fully-furnished bedroom. An inventory of their possessions will be prepared. We understand that some of our Children/young people will arrive with inadequate or damaged clothing will be assisted in purchasing new items, in addition to toiletries and other personal items.
